St. Rita Dallas Guild to Hold December Meeting

The St. Rita Dallas Guild will hold an Advent Dinner meeting beginning at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in the school gymnasium. Dinner will be catered by Prego’s, compliments of Treemont Retirement Facility. All Guild members and physicians interested in joining are invited and may bring a spouse.
Karen Garnett, Director of the Catholic Prolife Committee for the Diocese of Dallas will speak on The Gospel of Life and the New Evangelization.

Venice, Florida Guild to Co-Sponsor Bioethics Conference

The Diocese of Venice in Florida will be hosting Conscience & Courage: Catholic Tradition in Health Care Ethics, its 4th annual bioethics conference, on April 9, 2011. This event will feature lectures from CMA member Steve White, M.D. as well as 2010 CMA conference speaker Peter Kreeft, Ph.D. Physicians attending the conference have the opportunity to earn CME credits. Nurses, clergy, health-care professionals, and those interested in health-care ethics issues are also encouraged to attend. Registration is free for clergy, $10 for students, and $20 for all others.

Diocese of Paterson to Host Two Events on The Vocation of Catholic Doctors

Bishop Arthur Serratelli and and the Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey are beginning a new ministry called The Vocation of Catholic Doctors. There are two upcoming events:
On Sunday, April 3, 2011, Bishop Serratelli will be celebrating Mass for doctors and their spouses at 1:00 PM. After Mass, there will be a break with light refreshments, followed by Bishop Serratelli's presentation titled Catholic Doctors: Practice and Morality. There will be an open discussion session afterward with closing prayer at 3:15 PM. Please register for this event by calling (973) 377-1004.
On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, Dr. John Haas, President of the National Catholic Bioethics Center and Consultor to the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers, will be making presentations on hydration and nutrition as well as end-of-life issues at 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
