CMA Member Profiled in National News Story

July 21, 2009

CMA member Michael Kloess, M.D., along with his partner Anna Volk Johnson, M.D., were recently profiled in a Catholic News Agency story that highlighted their innovative approach to practicing medicine and caring for the poor.

Kloess and Johnson started Our Lady of Hope Clinic earlier this year, following a model pioneered by CMA member Robert Forester, M.D., at his St. Luke's Family Practice in Modesto, California.  The model combines elements of low-overhead micro-practice, a nonprofit corporation structure, and benefactors who pay a yearly fee for their own care and to support care of the poor.  This unique approach also allows Kloess and Johnson the freedom to practice medicine in complete accordance with Church teaching.
