Catholic Medical Association Addresses Medicine, Morality and Media at Annual Conference, Announces Award Recipients

Philadelphia, PA- September 15, 2022- Catholic Medical Association has wrapped up its 91st Annual Educational Conference. Held in Denver, Colorado, this year’s conference theme was “Searching for the Truth: Medicine, Morality, and the Media.”

“Our conference created an academic and spiritual environment for health care professionals to grow in their commitment to faith and further their dedication to the ethical practice of medicine. We are filled with gratitude for yet another successful event,” said Craig Treptow, M.D., President of Catholic Medical Association.

This year’s event brought together 675 attendees in Denver. The conference provides the opportunity to earn CME credits.

“Catholic Medical Association’s Annual Educational Conference addressed the highly timely topic of the importance that media plays in searching for the truth in the ethical practice of medicine,” said Greg Burke, M.D., Chair of this year’s conference.

“Guided by science, enlightened by a sound anthropology and inspired by divine revelation, the Catholic physician seeks to heal the body and spirit of all entrusted to their care by being grounded in their love of God and all creation,” added Dr. Burke, who also serves as Co-Chair of CMA’s Ethics Committee.

CMA’s conference also provided the opportunity for representatives from Benedictine College and Catholic Healthcare International to sign an agreement for plans to establish St. Padre Pio Institute for the Relief of Suffering, School of Osteopathic Medicine, a new independent medical school.

The agreement was signed on September 8th, the Feast of the Nativity of Mary.

The conference keynote speaker was Rev. David Pivonka, TOR, President of Franciscan University of Steubenville. Attendees also heard from many other distinguished speakers including Michael Warsaw of EWTN.

CMA wishes to thank all of its conference sponsors, including Diamond sponsors, Solidarity Healthshare and Centura Health.

During the conference, CMA announced the winners of its 2022 Awards Program, which recognizes the accomplishments and dedication of Guilds and members to CMA’s mission. Recipients are listed below.
