Easter Message from Our Episcopal Advisor

April 5, 2026

Christ is Risen, Alleluia Alleluia! He is Risen Indeed!

Last week on Palm Sunday, we heard the ancient hymn from St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians which spoke of the humility of Jesus Christ, who did not see his divinity as something he had to cling to. Because of this freedom and pure love for broken humanity, he emptied himself completely becoming one with us in all things but sin, accepting death from us and undergoing his passion and death for us.

And today, Easter Sunday, is when we see the reading come to it’s joyous completion: “Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Jesus is alive! This is the central truth of Christianity – and it flows from the utter humility of God, and his profound love for us. Jesus is alive, and through his resurrection, he has broken the shackles of death and opened the gates of heaven.

It is my prayer that this Easter, we may embrace the humility of our own crosses, so as to be exalted with him, resting in the hope of eternal life. With my prayers for you this Easter, I remain

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. James D. Conley, D.D.Episcopal Advisor
