Medical Student Bioethics Boot Camp

The CMA is creating a major new program to help Catholic medical students survive and thrive – an annual medical student boot camp starting in June 2013.

The CMA Medical Student Boot Camp will be offered in Philadelphia, in partnership with St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, which is renowned for its orthodoxy. Over the course of 4 days students will receive an intensive immersion in the life of faith and in the teachings of the Church. Daily activities include Liturgy of the Hours, Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. There will be opportunities for confession and for informal discussions with practicing physicians in a variety of specialties.

Didactic presentations will cover the teachings of the Church on critical ethical issues including abortion, contraception, reproductive technology, care of the disabled, physician assisted suicide, and proper care at the end of life. In addition, students will receive practical training on how to apply and witness to Church teaching in the art and science of medicine.

Our goal is to give fellow medical students an opportunity to grow in their knowledge of Catholic Bioethics in order to survive, organize and evangelize their peers while in medical school, and to be great Catholic Physicians when we graduate.

Since the Boot Camp will run 4 full days, students will be expected to arrive on Tuesday evening, June 18, and depart Sunday, June 23.
